Polymarket launches 15-minute Bitcoin price markets on US app
Polymarket launched 15-minute Bitcoin price prediction markets on its US app. The new ultra-short-term contracts let users bet on whether Bitcoin will be higher or lower at 15-minute intervals. The CFTC-regulated exchange frames the launch as a push into crypto derivatives beyond its traditional multi-week political and macroeconomic contracts. The product appeared on the US app as of September 28. Polymarket separately hosts monthly-dated Bitcoin price level markets.
Polymarket now runs crypto contracts across at least three time slices — five minutes, 15 minutes, and month-end — creating direct competition with perpetual futures exchanges for crypto-native flow. Traders who already split attention across expiry structures on traditional venues face a new venue choice: prediction markets with capped downside versus futures with leverage and funding fees.
The 15-minute product tests whether prediction-market mechanics can match the speed and settle frequency that perpetual traders expect. Platform volume on this product will show whether Polymarket converts crypto speculators into repeat users, or whether the format proves too slow against futures execution. For Kalshi, which launched Bitcoin perpetual futures in May, Polymarket's speed play pressures a product line that took months to build.
Brings to at least three the count of Polymarket crypto duration experiments this quarter, from the five-minute Bitcoin contract through the month-end Ether and Bitcoin price targets to this 15-minute product.
