Polymarket lists five-minute Bitcoin contract and monthly Ethereum price market
Polymarket has listed a five-minute Bitcoin price contract under the title BTC Up or Down 5m as of September 19, 2026. The platform is also hosting an active Ethereum price market that traders are pricing at 92% probability for Ether to hit $2,600 before month-end as of September 23, 2026. Both contracts represent short-duration crypto directional bets on the platform. A prior Ethereum price market asked what level ETH would hit on September 16, 2026.
These ultra-short crypto contracts test whether prediction markets can capture flow that currently sits on perpetual futures and options venues. The five-minute Bitcoin window is far shorter than typical event-contract durations, pushing Polymarket into day-trader territory where execution speed and spread tightness decide volume. If the 92% Ether pricing draws enough size to generate meaningful open interest, Polymarket can argue its order book rivals crypto-native venues for near-term directional bets.
Competing platforms like Kalshi are already listing year-end crypto targets, so whoever proves more accurate on month-end settlement gains repeat-trader credibility. The risk is contract design: a five-minute resolution demands near-perfect price feeds, and any feed dispute becomes a trust hit in a market already sensitive to oracle risk.
Joins a cluster of recent crypto-native contract launches across regulated venues, with Kalshi also pricing year-end Ethereum targets and Polymarket itself recently listing month-end Bitcoin odds.
