Robinhood takes equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com for prediction market push

Published Sep 8, 2026Updated 16m ago

Robinhood is taking equity stakes in Crypto.com and its prediction-markets division OG.com under a multi-year partnership announced Tuesday. The deal routes retail football event-contract volume through OG.com's Commodity Futures Trading Commission-registered exchange. Robinhood gains regulated infrastructure without building its own exchange, while OG.com taps Robinhood's large retail user base for distribution. The tie-up comes ahead of the NFL season opener as Robinhood scales its fastest-growing revenue line through partnerships rather than organic development.

Why this matters?

Robinhood has chosen to buy its way into regulated prediction-market infrastructure rather than build or license it directly. That signals event contracts have graduated from experiment to core revenue line worth capital allocation. The partnership gives OG.com distribution Robinhood could never build organically, while Robinhood's users get CFTC-regulated products without waiting for proprietary exchange approval. Robinhood now faces concentration risk: its football season volume and Piper Sandler's $320 million Q4 revenue forecast depend on OG.com's regulatory standing staying clean.

Any CFTC action against Crypto.com or OG.com would force immediate migration to Kalshi or Rothera joints. For Kalshi and Polymarket, which hold direct designations, Robinhood's indirect route validates their longer capital-intensive strategy. They can argue that owning the license insulates traders from exactly this partner dependency. The first outage or enforcement headline will test whether Robinhood's speed-to-market trade-off was worth it.
