Kalshi and Polymarket post $8.56 billion two-day volume on NFL weekend

Published Oct 11, 2026Updated 1h ago

Prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket recorded $8.56 billion in combined trading volume over October 10-11, 2026, according to Binance. Kalshi alone hit $3.9 billion in notional volume on Saturday, with more than 70% coming from parlays and combination bets, per TickerTracker data. The surge was driven by NFL and NCAA football events. The football betting boom has also intensified legal disputes over whether certain contract combinations constitute illegal sports wagering.

Why this matters?

The weekend split reveals where volume actually lives. Kalshi's $3.9 billion Saturday, with parlays above 70%, shows multi-leg products are now the core revenue driver, not single-game sides. That concentration is a vulnerability FanDuel already understands: the sportsbook's market-making role with Kalshi lets it capture combo flow that DraftKings' DKeX missed entirely.

Citizens Bank found Kalshi lost its single-game pricing edge by NFL Week 3. Better combo pricing from established sportsbooks could flip share numbers fast. The platform with superior mid-season combo pricing wins. Kalshi must lock FanDuel long-term or build independent liquidity before the sportsbook rebuilds its own event-contract stack and pulls traders back.
