Trump Media drops crypto treasury and prediction market ventures, keeps Crypto.com marketing deal

Published Aug 7, 2026Updated 1h ago

Trump Media is unwinding two major Crypto.com partnerships. The Truth Social parent is dropping plans for a crypto treasury venture and scaling back a prediction market integration that would have embedded event contracts directly into the social platform. The company is retreating from direct cryptocurrency involvement under new leadership. It is keeping a marketing agreement that lets Crypto.com promote its prediction products to Truth Social users, shifting the digital-asset strategy toward event-contract distribution rather than token issuance or crypto holdings. The pullback accompanies a broader strategic pivot toward media, data licensing, and a planned merger with fusion energy company TAE.

Why this matters?

Trump Media's retreat removes a high-profile distribution channel from the prediction market supply scramble. Crypto.com loses its fast track to tens of millions of Truth Social users and must fall back to generic marketing placement, the same shelf-space model it already pursues with Robinhood in talks with Crypto.com to add event contracts beyond Kalshi.

For Kalshi, the relief is temporary: Robinhood is still negotiating with Crypto.com for direct contract access, and Rothera, Robinhood's joint venture, adds a third pressure point. Trump Media's pivot to media and data licensing means no near-term rival with built-in political engagement enters the regulated event-contract market. The remaining marketing deal produces brand exposure without guaranteed volume, leaving Crypto.com's U.S. prediction growth dependent on brokerages it does not control.
