Polymarket hires engineering and legal staff to build CFTC-regulated US exchange
Polymarket posted three roles on US job boards in mid-October 2026: an Engineering Manager for Trust, Safety, Surveillance and Compliance; an Engineering Manager for Clearing, Payments and Risk; and a Lead FCM Legal position in New York. One listing notes Polymarket operates a CFTC-regulated designated contract market and derivatives clearing organization. The roles suggest the platform is scaling legal, compliance, and clearing infrastructure for its US-regulated exchange.
These hires target the exact gaps that state attorneys general are exploiting. Ohio and Tennessee have already pierced Kalshi's federal preemption shield by painting event contracts as gambling products with weak financial-crime controls. Polymarket's trust-and-safety and clearing-engineering roles signal it is building the compliance infrastructure that regulators and courts now demand.
The lead FCM legal hire in New York positions the firm to interface directly with the CFTC on futures commission merchant rules, a layer Kalshi has not publicly staffed. ForecastEx and Novig face the same credibility test: each must show regulators a hardened stack or risk becoming the easier enforcement target. Kalshi's FBI hire raises that bar first. Polymarket's response keeps it in the compliance arms race rather than falling behind.
Polymarket joins Kalshi, Novig, and ForecastEx in the compliance hiring push as state attorneys general in Ohio and Tennessee strip federal preemption shields and the CFTC drafts swaps rules.
