Polymarket tweet-count markets on Musk draw over $3M in wagers

Updated 18d ago

Polymarket has launched prediction markets tracking Elon Musk's weekly tweet count, letting traders bet on how many posts he will make in a given week. By May 17, total wagers on these markets had surpassed $3 million in volume. The contracts represent an extension of Polymarket's push into social-media-driven event contracts on the crypto-native platform. The market covering May 15 to May 22, 2026, became active enough that Polymarket posted a follow-up question asking users to predict the total trading activity on the original tweet-volume market itself, creating a self-referential secondary contract.

Why this matters?

Polymarket's $3 million uptake on meme-driven social contracts comes as its eight-month volume growth streak just ended and Kalshi notched three record-breaking events this month. The timing forces Polymarket to rely on viral retail engagement rather than institutional liquidity to defend its narrative to investors during Kalshi's $1 billion Series F fundraising window.
