NBA signs preferred deals with Kalshi and Polymarket, plus integrity pact with CFTC
The NBA has struck deals making Kalshi and Polymarket its preferred prediction market partners. The partnerships include access to official NBA data for settling trades and establish direct integrity cooperation between the league and the platforms. The agreements were announced on October 26 alongside a separate NBA integrity deal with a federal entity. The focus is on regulatory compliance and safeguards. The move marks the first time a major U.S. sports league has formally aligned with regulated prediction market platforms.
The NBA's preferred status gives Kalshi and Polymarket a marketing platform that CFTC-registered rivals cannot easily match. This matters most for Kalshi. Its federal preemption defense collapsed in the Sixth Circuit. State enforcement actions are multiplying. League sponsorship now signals to state regulators that regulated prediction markets deserve integration, not exclusion.
The integrity framework may become the template other leagues demand before similar partnerships. If the NFL follows, the political coalition against state-level bans gains weight. That pressure could push holdout states to write prediction markets into sports-gaming law rather than fight through cease-and-desist orders.
