Lumina Markets launches CFTC-registered prediction market app for U.S. traders
Lumina Markets, a CFTC-registered introducing broker and NFA member based in New York, launched a prediction market app for U.S. customers on Monday, October 19, 2026. The web and mobile platform offers event contracts on elections, the economy, technology, and world events. The company enters a competitive field that includes established CFTC-regulated platforms. Lumina Markets is positioning itself as a regulated pathway for retail traders to participate in prediction markets.
Lumina Markets arrives as a direct competitor rather than a white-label partner, widening the set of regulated venues that own their own trader relationships. That puts pressure on the partner-dependent model that Robinhood has used with Kalshi, Crypto.com, Rothera, and OG.com. Each new direct entrant shrinks the addressable partner volume that Robinhood's $145 stock price depends on.
The CFTC's pending swap-rule proposal could still force product redesigns on every venue, but platforms with their own licenses can adapt faster than those routing through third parties. State court attacks on federal preemption in Ohio and Tennessee mean even licensed platforms face geofencing risk. Lumina must build liquidity and brand recognition while Kalshi holds dominant NFL market share. The first regulated platform to capture political-event volume from swing-state users could gain sticky retail accounts before the 2028 cycle.
Becomes the third CFTC-registered platform to launch prediction-market trading for U.S. retail customers this month after Novig and Crypto.com's Predict Pro, widening the set of venues competing directly against partner-dependent models.
