Kalshi's Andy Ross pitches brokers on plugging into event-contract liquidity
Kalshi Head of Institutional Andy Ross is pitching foreign-exchange and contract-for-difference brokers on connecting to Kalshi instead of building their own event-contract infrastructure. The case centers on ready-made liquidity: brokers eyeing event contracts face a build-or-rent choice, and Ross argues Kalshi's established market depth makes it the faster option. The pitch follows recent institutional outreach and comes as the exchange defends its CFTC-regulated sports contracts against state gambling challenges.
Kalshi's broker pitch is really a land grab for distribution before rivals can erect their own pipes. Every FX and CFD broker that plugs in becomes a channel Kalshi controls, not a competitor that builds depth elsewhere. Ross is betting that brokers will pay for liquidity rather than wait months to stand up matching engines and attract market makers.
That matters because FanDuel Predicts already showed the risk: it learned Kalshi's flow through a liquidity partnership, then launched its own competing front end. Kalshi locks in enough brokers now, it becomes the invisible infrastructure behind event contracts the same way ICE and CME dominate traditional futures distribution. The platforms that miss this window will face the same pricing death spiral that erased DraftKings' DKeX.
