Kalshi sponsors local TV sports segments previewing Ohio State-Indiana

Kalshi is sponsoring local television sports segments previewing the top-five matchup between No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Indiana. WBNS-TV in Columbus and KVUE-TV in Austin aired the sponsored previews October 15-16, 2026. The segments made no mention of Kalshi's prediction markets or event contracts beyond the sponsorship credit. On October 17, Kalshi traders priced Ohio State at 58% to win the game in Bloomington, with spread and total markets also listed.

Why this matters?

This is Kalshi's first known push into mainstream broadcast advertising for college football, a sport where it holds unique CFTC clearance that sportsbooks lack. The sponsorship buys local sports credibility without explaining what an event contract is, treating prediction-market prices as native sports content rather than a financial product.

That framing matters because state attorneys general in Ohio and Tennessee have already stripped Kalshi's federal preemption shield, and Maryland officials are watching the Fourth Circuit closely. If regulators or courts reclassify these contracts as gambling, Kalshi's broadcast partnerships could become evidence of consumer-facing promotion rather than commodity trading. The platform is betting that sports fans will adopt its prices before judges define them.

The bigger picture

Kalshi joins FanDuel Predicts, DraftKings' DKeX, and Novig in competing for college football prediction-market volume, but remains the only CFTC-registered platform with local TV ad placement.
