ION partners with Coinbase to support Kalshi event contracts

Published Oct 2, 2026Updated 43m ago

ION, a trading and workflow automation software provider, has partnered with Coinbase to support event contracts on Kalshi. Coinbase's prediction market documentation identifies Kalshi as the operator of the markets available through its platform. The collaboration combines ION's infrastructure with Coinbase's crypto exchange capabilities to back Kalshi's regulated contract offerings. The tax guidance addresses USDC funding and tax reporting for event contracts traded via the integration.

Why this matters?

Kalshi's infrastructure stack now layers ION's trading automation on top of Coinbase's crypto custody and USDC settlement. That tightens execution speed and tax hygiene for contracts traded through the integration. For Kalshi, each new infrastructure partner extends its reach without requiring direct investment in non-core systems. Competitors with thinner partner webs face higher build-or-buy costs to match the same user experience.

The ION addition matters most for institutional and high-frequency retail flow where automation determines where volume lands. Kalshi's pending $1 billion pre-IPO raise, reportedly led by Sequoia and Wellington, would fund further platform expansion and legal defense. Every infrastructure gap a competitor leaves open becomes a landing spot for Kalshi's capital if it deploys first.

The bigger picture

Kalshi's infrastructure partnerships now span ION's workflow automation, Coinbase's crypto rails, Public's AI agents, and the Tunica tribal distribution layer, deepening the regulated event-contract stack while its $40 billion pre-IPO round draws Sequoia and Wellington capital that rival platforms cannot match.
