Tunica-Tribe to launch prediction market app with Kalshi
The Tunica-Tribe is launching a prediction market app with Kalshi through SaltTrade, letting customers trade on weather, politics, and entertainment outcomes. The partnership marks a tribal gaming operator's entry into regulated event contracts. It comes as other tribal nations intensify opposition to prediction markets on sovereignty grounds, with some targeting Kalshi and Robinhood for contracts offered on tribal lands.
Kalshi gains a cooperative tribal partner while its legal position against other tribes erodes. The SaltTrade deal gives Kalshi a counter-narrative to court losses, but it does not resolve conflicts elsewhere. The tribe now holds direct economic interest in Kalshi's survival. That creates tension if other tribal nations expand litigation. Kalshi must still geofence lands where courts have ruled against it.
Every new tribal partner that launches while lawsuits multiply complicates Kalshi's message to regulators and traders. The deal also signals to tribes that prediction market revenue is available through partnership, not just opposition. That could split tribal legal strategies and open new distribution paths, or deepen fractures within tribal coalitions already mobilized against event contracts.
This partnership becomes the first tribal-casino operator to launch a regulated prediction-market app, entering at a moment when Kalshi's legal strategy against other tribes is already under strain from Ninth Circuit losses and multiplying state-level challenges.
