Cboe and Robinhood to launch KPI event contracts in October
Cboe Global Markets and Robinhood will launch binary event contracts tied to corporate key performance indicators in October 2026. The products let traders take yes/no positions on whether companies hit specific financial targets. Cboe is waiving fees initially to attract volume and build liquidity. The partnership pairs Cboe's exchange infrastructure with Robinhood's retail user base. Cboe's Kinahan said the exchange believes the contracts qualify as investable event contracts.
The KPI launch deepens Robinhood's dependence on partner infrastructure despite its prediction-market revenue now exceeding both crypto and equities. Cboe supplies the exchange license and clearing; Robinhood supplies the users. That split means any regulatory friction at Cboe or a fee reversion after the waiver period hits Robinhood's fastest-growing revenue line directly.
The KPI product also moves Robinhood beyond sports seasonality, which matters after the August volume dip showed how concentrated its prediction-market revenue remains. Competitors with direct CFTC designations can pitch stability to traders weary of platform-hopping. Robinhood's stock trades near $116 on prediction-market growth; a single partner failure during NFL season would test whether that pricing holds.
The Cboe deal adds a fifth partner to Robinhood's prediction-market stack, after Kalshi, the Rothera joint venture, Crypto.com, and OG.com, deepening its reliance on external exchange infrastructure as it expands beyond sports into corporate KPIs.
