Cboe to launch SEC-regulated KPI event contracts with Robinhood and Interactive Brokers
Cboe Global Markets plans to roll out company KPI event contracts in November, with Robinhood and Interactive Brokers as launch partners. The products are structured as securities and will trade on Cboe's SEC-regulated exchange, distinguishing them from CFTC-regulated commodity event contracts. Cboe disclosed the timeline and partner roster during its Q3 2026 earnings call on October 30. Net revenue rose 18% in the quarter. The exchange also extended its S&P license for 25 years.
Cboe is the first major securities exchange to build a dedicated prediction-market product line inside SEC regulation, not CFTC jurisdiction. That creates a parallel regulatory track for event contracts that bypasses the CFTC venue stack entirely. Robinhood and Interactive Brokers gain access to a product class without relying on partner CFTC designations like Kalshi or Rothera.
The November launch gives Cboe a head start before futures-style event contracts arrive in 2027. SEC registration may attract institutional traders who avoid the CFTC commodity framework. Competitors with only CFTC event-contract licenses will now face a venue that offers corporate KPI exposure under a different regulator's rules.
Cboe joins Robinhood's expanding web of prediction-market partnerships, adding an SEC-regulated securities venue alongside Robinhood's existing CFTC partner routes through Kalshi, Rothera, and OG.com.
