Yahoo Finance and Polymarket end prediction market data partnership
Yahoo Finance has ended its prediction market partnership with Polymarket, which had supplied data for a dedicated prediction market hub on the financial news platform. Morningstar reports the arrangement expired. Polymarket retains an ongoing data partnership with Dow Jones, publisher of the Wall Street Journal. Neither source disclosed timing, cause, or terms of the Yahoo Finance termination beyond the expiry itself.
Polymarket loses a major distribution surface exactly as it battles Kalshi for institutional and retail market share. Yahoo Finance's audience was a direct pipeline to mainstream investors who might otherwise never visit a prediction market platform. Losing that visibility raises the cost of user acquisition and sharpens the competitive value of Polymarket's remaining media deals, especially the Dow Jones arrangement.
Kalshi has been stacking institutional data partnerships rapidly, making mainstream brand presence a larger slice of the consumer battle. Polymarket's marketing team, this is budget that must be redirected or the volume gap with Kalshi could widen. The Dow Jones deal now carries more weight as the primary media distribution channel left standing.
