Wealthsimple partners with Kalshi to bring 4,000 event contracts to Canadian investors

Published Jun 18, 2026 Updated 8h ago

Wealthsimple will launch a prediction markets app this summer in partnership with Kalshi, giving Canadian users access to roughly 4,000 event contracts covering climate, financial markets, and economic outcomes. The Toronto-based fintech's product, called Wealthsimple Predict, will only offer contracts with terms of 30 days or longer. The deal marks Kalshi's first expansion into Canada and extends its international footprint beyond the US market through a local partner rather than direct regulatory licensing. The partnership was announced June 18. It follows regulatory approval earlier this year for Wealthsimple to offer the product.

Why this matters?

Kalshi now has two major retail pipelines outside its standalone app — Wealthsimple in Canada and Moomoo's 29 million users — precisely as Robinhood begins diverting event-contract flow to rival clearing firm Rothera. Kalshi must make these partnerships generate actual trading volume or risk losing its retail market share without a replacement.
