WagerWire approved as Gibraltar's second prediction markets licensee

Published Jun 10, 2026 Updated 10h ago

WagerWire subsidiary Wire Markets has been approved as the second prediction market licensee in Gibraltar. The approval makes Wire Markets one of just two licensed prediction market operators in the British Overseas Territory.

Why this matters?

Expands the pool of regulated European prediction market venues and gives WagerWire a licensing beachhead in Gibraltar, potentially opening cross-border opportunities.

The bigger picture

Joins Gibraltar's tiny regulated tier alongside one existing licensee, while Polymarket faces active blocking in Indonesia, Spain, South Korea, Brazil, and India over licensing gaps that Gibraltar-style frameworks are designed to close.
