Polymarket US files to list Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana price contracts
Polymarket US has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to list price contracts on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana for trading in the United States. The filing, reported August 27, 2026, would expand Polymarket's US offerings beyond event contracts into crypto price markets. Polymarket acquired the CFTC-licensed exchange QCEX (QCX) in 2025 and currently operates in the US under a CFTC order of designation.
Polymarket US enters a direct race with Kalshi for CFTC-regulated crypto price exposure. Kalshi filed for similar perpetual futures just six days earlier, including equity index and copper contracts alongside crypto. The overlap means both platforms are chasing the same trader base and market maker commitment. For Polymarket, crypto price contracts offer a volume path beyond political event markets, which spike around elections then crater.
The CFTC must review both filings under tight political scrutiny after Kalshi's Bitcoin perpetual approval already drew a CME lawsuit in June. Any delay punishes the second filer more than the first. Traders will migrate to whichever venue clears first and offers tighter spreads. For competitors like Novig and FanDuel Predicts, the message is clear: evolve contract types or lose the active trading core to Kalshi and Polymarket. The CFTC's pace on these dual crypto filings will set the template for every alternative asset class queued behind them.
