Polymarket brings blockchain indexing in-house with rindexer
Polymarket has moved its primary blockchain indexing in-house using rindexer, a tool it says cuts onchain event latency by 14 blocks and reduces data delays by as much as 28 seconds. The platform announced the shift on September 16. The move is designed to improve the speed at which the platform processes and displays blockchain data. Polymarket previously relied on third-party providers for this infrastructure layer.
Self-built indexing gives Polymarket direct control over data latency that third-party leaks have already proven costly. Sonic SVM and Manic recently open-sourced a trader intelligence framework built on reconstructed Polymarket order flow, handing rivals a free blueprint. Cutting 28 seconds of data delay does not close that window, but it tightens the gap between onchain events and what traders see on screen.
Faster indexing also reduces the window in which arbitrage bots and copycat strategies can front-run or replicate positions before retail users catch up. For Kalshi and ForecastEx, the lesson is that data infrastructure is now a competitive battleground, not a utility they can rent. The platform that pairs the fastest pipes with the tightest access controls will keep its edge longest.
