Kalshi taps Weather Co. data to settle climate prediction markets
Kalshi partnered with the Weather Company on August 27, 2026. The deal uses Weather Co. enterprise data to settle Kalshi's climate and weather prediction markets. Real-time probability data from Kalshi will also appear in The Weather Channel app. The partnership targets growing trader interest in climate-related event contracts and aims to improve market integrity through verified meteorological inputs. Weather Co. operates a leading weather app.
Data partnerships are now the make-or-break variable for regulated prediction markets. Kalshi's Weather Co. deal gives it verified meteorological inputs for settlement, a credibility layer that retail and institutional traders increasingly demand. That matters because Polymarket just expanded its Sportradar arrangement to more than 20 leagues, creating the widest certified sports and climate catalogue among CFTC-regulated venues.
Kalshi must match that breadth or lose users who want one platform for all event contracts. The Weather Channel app integration also gives Kalshi a discovery channel that Polymarket lacks, potentially funneling mainstream weather consumers into prediction-market trading. For traders, the split is concrete: Polymarket owns sports data breadth, while Kalshi now claims weather data depth. The platform that blurs that line first will consolidate the regulated market's liquidity.
Adds weather data to a prediction-market data arms race that already includes Sportradar's expanded 20-plus-league deal with Polymarket's multi-league streaming package.
