trade.xyz launches event contracts on Hyperliquid via HIP-4 framework
trade.xyz launched event contracts on September 10, 2026, integrating prediction markets into its Hyperliquid-based order book. The crypto-native platform wired the new product into its existing perpetual futures infrastructure using Hyperliquid's HIP-4 framework. Fixed-expiry, price-based contracts went live first. The platform plans to expand into broader prediction markets including sports. Hyperliquid's HYPE token added 6.5% to $84.86 around the announcement.
This is the first event-contract deployment built natively on Hyperliquid's on-chain order book rather than routed through a CFTC-registered exchange. That architecture matters because it sidesteps the licensing bottleneck that has slowed entrants like Markets and High Roller, both of which leaned on Crypto.com's CDNA white-label stack. For traders, the trade-off is regulatory coverage: Hyperliquid has no CFTC designation, so users trade without the safeguards and dispute resolution that Kalshi and Polymarket must maintain.
If trade.xyz captures meaningful volume, it tests whether crypto-native traders value speed and leverage over federal oversight. The planned sports expansion would put it in direct competition with Robinhood's football pipeline and ProphetX's Solana offering. The first volume figures will show whether unlicensed infrastructure can pull share from regulated venues or simply serves a separate risk-tolerant niche.
