Prediction markets expand into single-stock and crypto-equity price targets

Published Oct 16, 2026

Prediction markets will list event contracts tied to price targets for Coinbase, Robinhood, and Marathon Digital, according to a Yahoo Finance report. The products extend prediction-market offerings into single-stock and crypto-equity levels. Robinhood is among platforms expanding prediction-market activity. Bullish has submitted a U.S. license application to offer event contracts to American customers. The move comes as crypto exchanges seek new revenue streams amid a prolonged token price downturn.

Why this matters?

Single-stock price targets pull prediction markets into direct competition with traditional options exchanges at a moment of regulatory confusion. The CFTC's pending swap-rule proposal could reclassify event contracts and force platforms to restructure or pull products before they clear margin and reporting thresholds.

Robinhood already straddles two federal frameworks: CFTC-linked products through Kalshi, Rothera, Crypto.com, and OG.com, plus SEC-regulated KPI options on Cboe rails. Adding equity price targets risks a third enforcement front if the SEC claims securities jurisdiction or state courts pierce federal preemption as they have in Ohio and Tennessee. Platforms must now price legal and compliance costs across three regulatory silos for the same underlying price exposure.
