Gate launches event contracts builder with $3 million grant programme

Published Aug 7, 2026Updated 1h ago

Gate, a digital asset platform, launched an Event Contracts Builder through its Gate DexBuilder decentralised exchange infrastructure unit on August 7, 2026. The tool allows users to create custom event contracts. The launch is accompanied by a $3 million grant programme designed to incentivise developers and projects to build on the platform. The platform aims to lower technical barriers for creating prediction-market contracts.

Why this matters?

Gate's builder takes aim at the same developer pool that DreamDEX and other DeFi platforms are courting with non-custodial infrastructure. The $3 million grant purse is a direct bet that subsidised tooling can pull prediction-market creators away from regulated venues like Kalshi and Polymarket before those platforms secure broader contract approvals. Developers who accept Gate's grants build habits on decentralised rails, making later migration to federal exchanges less likely.

Robinhood's existing supplier search already shows brokerages will shop among multiple sources; Gate wants to make sure some of those sources run on its infrastructure. The risk for established platforms is shelf-space fragmentation: every new builder that gains traction splinters liquidity and complicates the user-acquisition math. For Gate, the payoff comes if grant-funded projects produce contracts sticky enough to generate sustained trading volume on its DEX infrastructure.

The bigger picture

Gate joins DreamDEX in launching event-contract builders this month as DeFi venues race to offer non-custodial alternatives to CFTC-registered platforms.
