DreamDEX to add crypto price event contracts on Somnia network

Published Aug 3, 2026Updated 4h ago

DreamDEX, a decentralized exchange on the Somnia network, will launch event contracts for crypto price movements. The product will let users take positions on where a crypto price heads over a fixed window. The contracts will be fully on-chain and non-custodial. No launch date or regulatory details were provided. The exchange described the offering as a new way to trade directional bets on crypto markets. DreamDEX operates on the Somnia network. This is the second time the platform has teased the product in under a week.

Why this matters?

DeFi platforms are building prediction-market infrastructure faster than CFTC registration allows. DreamDEX and Gate both launched event-contract builders this month as non-custodial alternatives. Traders who want immediate access to crypto price bets can use them today, while Kalshi and Polymarket wait months for contract approvals. The speed gap lets DeFi venues capture directional traders who would otherwise sit idle.

CFTC-registered platforms face a shelf-space risk: Robinhood already shops among multiple suppliers, and traders who build habits on-chain may never migrate to regulated venues. DreamDEX's non-custodial model removes custody licensing entirely, cutting a compliance layer that federal exchanges still carry. The question is whether on-chain liquidity proves deep enough to keep traders once regulated competitors list similar contracts.
