Robinhood to expand AI trading and add earnings event contracts
Robinhood unveiled plans to expand AI-powered trading tools and add event contracts tied to corporate earnings. The announcement came overnight, and the stock rose. Features also include weekend trading and AI agents. The goal is to attract new customers and generate fresh business. No volume figures, launch timing, or regulatory details for the prediction-market component were disclosed. The brokerage continues pushing into event contracts alongside its existing equities and crypto revenue.
Robinhood now layers AI tools and earnings event contracts onto a Predict tab that already serves 24 million funded accounts. That makes it the largest retail distribution channel for prediction-market-style products and a direct competitor to Kalshi and Polymarket. The brokerage's revenue from prediction markets topped crypto and equities last quarter, so any delay in launching the earnings contracts would leave growth exposed to NFL seasonality.
Partner concentration risk remains acute: Robinhood routes volume through Kalshi and other joint ventures with no backup exchange under its own license. Competitors with direct CFTC designations can pitch stability to traders weary of platform-hopping. The first platform to prove sticky retail volume outside NFL seasonality will reshape every prediction-market revenue model. Robinhood's AI push aims to capture that stickiness before Public's Kalshi integration does.
Robinhood's Predict tab debuted one day earlier, making this the second Robinhood prediction-market announcement in as many days as the brokerage races to build a full AI-prediction stack before competitors match Public's Kalshi integration.
