PrizePicks and OG.com launch digital card rip products amid regulatory scrutiny
PrizePicks and OG.com have launched digital card rip products, placing trading card packs inside apps that also sell player picks and event contracts. OG.com is the prediction market platform that Crypto.com spun out earlier this year. The launches come as daily fantasy sports and event contracts face growing regulatory scrutiny. The products expand gaming into an ambiguous regulatory space between collectibles and gambling.
Digital card rips let both platforms grab revenue from users while event-contract rules remain unsettled. PrizePicks and OG.com can monetize the same audiences through a product that lacks the clear CFTC or state gambling labels attached to their core offerings. For OG.com, this diversifies beyond the prediction markets and leveraged crypto derivatives it already runs.
The timing matters because the CFTC just proposed treating many event contracts as swaps, which would force restructuring or delisting. Card rips do not solve that problem, but they do give each platform a fallback stream if regulators narrow the event-contract window. The risk is that state attorneys general already treating event contracts as gambling may view card rips the same way. Any enforcement action would hit just as platforms are burning cash to build share.
OG.com broadens its product mix two months after Crypto.com spun out the platform and hired Markets as prime broker, joining a widening set of operators layering collectibles and crypto derivatives alongside prediction markets as regulatory pressure on event contracts intensifies.
