Polymarket traders score six-figure payouts on longshot NFL, Cardinals bets
Two Polymarket accounts turned longshot sports bets into six-figure wins over two days. On November 2, a trader wagered $47,000 on the Denver Broncos to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs during the fourth quarter, when Denver trailed 13–24. The Broncos rallied to win. On November 3, another account bought Arizona Cardinals shares at 1.4 cents before the team won 33–30 in overtime. That bet returned $118,000. Both wagers were placed through Polymarket Sports, the platform's sports-focused account.
These payouts illustrate how in-game prediction markets reward information advantages that traditional sportsbooks cannot price in real time. A trader who reads fourth-quarter momentum or overtime probability faster than the market clears multiples of their stake. For Polymarket, each viral win becomes user-acquisition fuel that competes directly with Kalshi's daily NFL lines.
The platform now runs parallel sports contract schedules against its CFTC-registered rival, including conference odds and game-level prices. Traders choosing where to place size will gravitate toward whichever venue sustains tighter two-way flow through championship weekend. The risk is adverse selection: sharp in-game information flow can just as easily wipe out late entrants who chase the same price moves.
