OKX launches gold event contracts, hires for event-contracts role in Hong Kong
OKX has launched XAU (Gold) Event Contracts, enabling binary trading on gold price movements via the XAU-USDT index. The product lets users take yes/no positions on gold price direction. Separately, OKX posted a Hong Kong job listing for a Product Manager / Director of Event Contracts, describing event contracts as one of the fastest-growing financial innovation categories globally over the past two years. Both moves signal OKX is building out its event-contracts business.
OKX is expanding into event contracts while most major crypto exchanges have stayed on the sidelines. The gold product gives OKX a commodity-linked entry point that differs from the sports and politics contracts dominating the market. Hong Kong hiring signals institutional-grade ambition rather than a retail-only experiment.
That matters because distribution partnerships with brokerages now determine who captures prediction-market volume, and dedicated product leadership can negotiate those integrations. OKX's binary structure also appeals to traders who want defined risk without leverage complexity. Competitors like Kalshi and Robinhood are already embedded in mainstream brokerage accounts, so OKX's window to establish its own channels may be narrow.
OKX joins a growing roster of platforms racing to offer event contracts, as Kalshi event contracts debut on Robinhood, Coinbase, Webull, and Moomoo and competitorsexpand product types to capture prediction-market volume.
