Kalshi opens college football season with LSU, USC and UCLA Week 1 lines
Kalshi traders are pricing LSU at 77% to defeat Clemson in their NCAA Week 1 college football opener on Saturday in Death Valley. The matchup marks Lane Kiffin's debut as LSU head coach. Separately, Kalshi traders price USC at 94% to beat Fresno State in the Pac-12 debut for both teams, and UCLA at 57% to win at California in a game featuring head coaching debuts for Bob Chesney and Tosh Lupoi. All three lines went live ahead of the Saturday kickoffs.
The college football launch adds a second sport to Kalshi's weekend menu alongside its NFL markets, but the pricing structure raises the same liquidity questions that dogged its 99% Oklahoma line. A 94% USC contract offers barely any edge to buyers or sellers, making it a marketing hook rather than a tradeable instrument.
Traders with real size will compare these thin spreads against Novig's $125 million first-week depth and route orders accordingly. Kalshi's challenge is converting opening-week curiosity into sustained order flow that lasts past September. The platforms that survive October will be those that delivered depth, not headlines.
The LSU-Clemson and USC-Fresno State lines join Rotowire's forecast that Kalshi and Polymarket NFL volume will double, adding college football as a parallel liquidity front ahead of the season's opening weekend.
