Kalshi posts record $4.9 billion football weekend volume

Published Sep 14, 2026Updated 2h ago

Kalshi broke its single-day volume record on Saturday, September 12, then set another all-time high on Sunday during a football-focused trading weekend. The platform processed $4.9 billion in volume across the two days and generated $32 million in fees. The records came during NFL Week 1 as football trading drove prediction markets to new highs across several platforms, according to tier-4 reports from Ingame.com and News.worldcasinodirectory.com.

Why this matters?

Kalshi's $32 million fee haul across one weekend tests whether its pricing leadership can survive FanDuel's liquidity support. FanDuel's market-making on Kalshi NFL contracts gives the platform institutional depth it lacked a season ago. The danger is concentration: if FanDuel pulls liquidity or demands tighter economics, order-book quality swings overnight. Platforms that built sports volume on peer-to-peer matching must prove they can sustain pricing leadership when a single sportsbook supplies much of the depth.

Polymarket is already narrowing the gap in football-specific flow. Novig's existing sportsbook user base adds a third competitor chasing the same bettor pool. If Polymarket matches Kalshi's order-book quality while carrying lower fees, trader migration could accelerate before the playoff cycle ends. Platforms that lose sports volume now risk entering the midterms with weakened brand recognition and thinner liquidity.
