Kalshi joins tech trade group NetChoice as association expands sectors
Kalshi has joined NetChoice, a Washington-based national technology trade association, as the group expands into new sectors of the digital economy. The move comes alongside Kalshi's broader effort to build influence in tech policy circles. NetChoice advocates for technology companies on policy issues and counts major tech and digital commerce firms among its members. The membership's timing aligns with Kalshi's escalating regulatory and political battles across multiple jurisdictions.
NetChoice gives Kalshi a shared lobbying voice alongside major tech platforms that face the same state-by-state regulatory patchwork. That matters because Kalshi is simultaneously fighting New York's gambling lawsuit and a Sixth Circuit ruling letting Ohio and Tennessee regulate its contracts. A trade association with established Capitol Hill relationships can file amicus briefs, coordinate congressional testimony, and push federal preemption arguments that a single exchange cannot sustain alone.
The alliance also signals Kalshi is betting its future on being regulated as tech-enabled finance rather than gambling. For NetChoice, adding a CFTC-registered exchange lets the group claim coverage of financial innovation beyond its traditional internet commerce base. The test is whether NetChoice will actually deploy resources for Kalshi or merely collect dues while the platform fights its own battles.
Kalshi's push into tech policy circles comes as it faces parallel pressure from Senate Banking Democrats demanding public scrutiny of its product line after a closed-door GOP roundtable.
