Hudson River Trading trades Kalshi up-down markets through futures team

Published Nov 4, 2026Updated 6h ago

Hudson River Trading (HRT) has begun trading prediction markets, running the effort out of its futures team. The quantitative trading firm has executed trades in Kalshi's up-down markets, according to a Bloomberg report published Wednesday. HRT is one of the largest electronic market makers in global futures and equities.

Why this matters?

A top-tier quantitative trading firm entering Kalshi's markets signals growing institutional legitimacy for regulated prediction markets and could deepen liquidity for event contracts.

The bigger picture

Hudson River Trading joins the institutional infrastructure already built around Kalshi's exchange — after Tradeweb and BMLL partnerships — as quantitative firms begin treating CFTC-regulated event contracts as a standard futures-market surface rather than an experimental retail product.
