Gemini and Apex sign exclusive crypto event contracts distribution deal
Gemini and Apex Fintech signed a letter of intent on August 24, 2026 for exclusive distribution of crypto event contracts. Under the proposed arrangement, Gemini's institutional infrastructure arm Gemini Titan would handle execution and clearing for brokerages offering these contracts through Apex's futures commission merchant. Gemini holds a Designated Contract Market license for regulated derivatives. No financial terms or timeline were disclosed.
This deal turns Gemini Titan into a backend utility that competes directly with Kalshi for brokerage distribution through Apex rather than for end users. Apex already routes Kalshi contracts to retail brokerages, and adding Gemini as a second regulated venue gives Apex leverage on revenue share and a backup if any single exchange faces regulatory friction.
For brokerages, the exchange brand becomes invisible and interchangeable, which commoditizes the venue layer. Kalshi now faces the same share-of-wallet pressure inside Apex that it already faces with Robinhood and Trading Technologies. The platform that offers Apex the better economics will capture the flow, while others risk becoming a label traders never see.
