Kalshi FC highlights $9,000 Spain World Cup bet as Gavi odds hit 90%

Updated 9d ago

Kalshi FC, the sports-dedicated social account of prediction market platform Kalshi, has posted a series of World Cup trading updates over the past week. On May 21, the account noted that odds for Spanish midfielder Gavi to play in the World Cup surged from 30% to 90% over the past month, highlighting a $100 trade. By May 24, a trader had placed a $9,000 bet on Spain to win the tournament through Kalshi FC, with a potential payout of $50,000. Separately, Kalshi Sports posted early tournament power rankings on May 26 based on platform odds, with France at 17.1% and Spain at 16.2% as the top two favorites, followed by England in the top three. All three posts originated from Kalshi-affiliated social media accounts and received modest engagement, with the largest drawing 35 likes and 5 replies.

Why this matters?

Kalshi is using its FC social account to showcase individual trader activity and celebrity-athlete contract movement as recruitment content, directly competing with Polymarket's sports-event marketing and DraftKings' parlay Combos for the same politically engaged retail trader base. Any volume gap between these promoted world Cup markets and its art auction or congressional-contract verticals will steer where Kalshi deploys its limited regulatory capital next.
