Failed CFTC chair nominee Quintenz joins prediction market advocacy group CPM

Published Jul 8, 2026

Former CFTC chair nominee Brian Quintenz has joined the Coalition for Prediction Markets (CPM) as a senior adviser. CPM is a prediction market advocacy group whose members include Kalshi, Crypto.com, Coinbase, Robinhood, and Underdog. The move places a former regulator with CFTC experience inside the industry's leading advocacy organization.

Why this matters?

Quintenz gives CPM an inside voice at the CFTC just as the agency faces contested rulemaking. The group now fields a former commissioner against current staff who blocked his chair nomination, a tension that sharpens every lobbying encounter.

For CPM members Kalshi, Quintenz's hiring signals the advocacy phase has moved past polite comment letters toward bare-knuckle regulatory combat. Quintenz knows which commissioners trade votes on what issues, a map no outside lawyer can buy.
