Cantor opens block trading for prediction market contracts
Cantor has begun offering institutional block trading for prediction markets, applying its existing institutional trading infrastructure to the event contracts space. The firm is using Kalshi's block trading framework, which executes away from the central order book, and says it is collaborating with Susquehanna Predictions on liquidity. The move targets hedge funds and asset managers with institutional-scale pricing and execution.
Cantor now gives hedge funds size and anonymity in prediction markets through a familiar broker-dealer counterparty. Institutional clients who would not trade on retail-style order books can access event contracts via block execution, reducing the operational friction that has kept asset managers out. Competitors Polymarket and FanDuel Predicts still lack comparable broker-dealer distribution, though Trading Technologies is building rival infrastructure.
The introducing-broker structure keeps Kalshi's regulatory burden contained while Cantor handles onboarding and execution. If committed block flow materializes, event contracts shift from retail curiosity to genuine portfolio tool. Rivals must secure similar partnerships or risk losing institutional volume to the first mover with consolidated infrastructure. A second major brokerage signing this quarter would confirm the distribution model and force latecomers to pay premium terms for access.
