Cantor Fitzgerald begins brokering institutional trades in Kalshi event contracts
Cantor Fitzgerald has begun brokering institutional trades in Kalshi event contracts, according to a report by journalist Laura Shin. The arrangement gives Cantor's institutional clients access to prediction markets on real-world outcomes, while Kalshi gains reach to traditional finance trading desks. Cantor is serving as a broker for block trades, leveraging its execution infrastructure and client base. The partnership follows Cantor's earlier launch of an institutional block trading desk for event contracts.
Kalshi now has a second institutional distribution channel through Cantor Fitzgerald in as many days. The block-trade broker desk gives hedge funds execution and clearing through one familiar counterparty, reducing the operational friction that has kept asset managers out of prediction markets. Competitors like Polymarket and FanDuel Predicts still lack comparable broker-dealer access, though Trading Technologies is building rival connectivity.
The introducing-broker structure kept regulatory burden contained while opening roughly 3,000 accounts. Now block trades add size and anonymity for larger institutions. If committed volume materializes, event contracts shift from retail curiosity to genuine portfolio tool. Rivals must secure similar partnerships or watch institutional flow consolidate. A second major brokerage signing this quarter would confirm the model and force laggards to pay premium terms for distribution.
