Rothera hires seven senior executives from Citadel, ICE, and OCC
Rothera, the Robinhood-backed prediction market exchange, has hired seven senior executives from major financial institutions including Citadel, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), and Cboe. The recruiting push, reported on October 27, signals an effort to build institutional-grade leadership as the exchange scales its infrastructure. Specific roles and individual names were not disclosed.
Rothera's hiring spree comes as prediction market platforms race to prove they can meet traditional finance standards. The exchange currently routes Robinhood's event-contract flow but holds no CFTC license of its own, leaving it dependent on partner infrastructure and regulatory cover. Poaching talent from ICE, OCC, and Citadel gives Rothera the operational vocabulary regulators and institutional risk committees understand.
That hire quality matters because Robinhood's partnership with Ripple, also announced this week, included event contracts in its scope, meaning Robinhood is scaling its prediction-market product line and will need more from Rothera than a white-label pipe. Rothera cannot earn its own CFTC registration, Robinhood may shift volume to licensed alternatives like Kalshi or Polymarket. The seven hires must deliver exchange-grade compliance and clearing frameworks before Robinhood's patience or partnership terms run out.
Rothera's buildout joins a broader staffing race that includes Crypto.com's 85-role expansion with dedicated prediction-markets legal counsel and Polymarket's investor-driven hunt for a COO, as platforms compete to assemble leadership teams that can satisfy institutional due diligence.
