Polymarket private shares surge 670% in a year to $137.70
Forge data shows Polymarket's private shares trading at $137.70 as of early October, a 670% gain over the past year. The price implies a private-market valuation of roughly $14.34 billion. The shares have climbed more than 10,000% since 2020, according to Forge data cited in the coverage. Polymarket is a CFTC-regulated prediction-market platform that acquired licensed exchange QCEX in 2025. The pricing comes from secondary-market trading on Forge, a platform for private-company shares.
A $14.34 billion private valuation forces every competitor to recalibrate its funding ask. Kalshi, Robinhood, and Crypto.com now pitch against a benchmark that retail-driven prediction markets can command heavyweight multiples. Institutional investors write checks against that ceiling, so the next platform that wants growth capital must show comparable user growth or accept a down-round label.
The climb also pressures Polymarket itself. A 670% twelve-month run sets an exit floor that public-market investors may not honor, especially after Galaxy Research found 69% of retail accounts on the platform lost money. If that data softens retail demand ahead of any listing, Polymarket's backers face a trapped-valuation problem. The secondary price becomes a hard anchor in every term-sheet negotiation from here.
The share-price jump follows PitchBook's Q3 2026 initiation report by four days, making this the second major institutional signal this week that Wall Street is building valuation models around Polymarket's economics.
