Kalshi sues Missouri as OG.com challenges Utah over state sports market enforcement

Published Oct 28, 2026Updated 13h ago

Kalshi filed a federal lawsuit challenging Missouri's sports prediction market rules, according to Bettingnews.com and Affnova.io. Separately, OG.com, which Crypto.com backs, filed for protection from enforcement in Utah. Novig and Crypto.com have also filed challenges against Missouri. Tribuna.com reported that Polymarket, Kalshi, and Crypto.com launched separate federal lawsuits against Louisiana and two other unnamed states, but the article did not specify exact claims or grounds.

Why this matters?

Federal preemption is now the central fight for every CFTC-registered prediction market platform. Kalshi already lost that argument in Ohio and Tennessee, and state attorneys general are copying each victory as template law. The Utah case now includes both a federal CFTC and DOJ suit and OG.com's separate protection filing, turning one state into two competing legal tracks.

Kalshi, every defeat adds criminal exposure and multi-million-dollar profit recovery demands. Polymarket and Robinhood, which have stayed silent in some states, must now decide whether to join federal fights or negotiate state by state. A circuit split deepens toward Supreme Court intervention.

The bigger picture

Kalshi joins Crypto.com and Novig in challenging Missouri enforcement, adding a third named platform to the state-by-state preemption fight after the same trio already faced Louisiana and Utah actions.
