Coinbase plans Canadian expansion into stocks, crypto and prediction markets

Published Jul 22, 2026Updated 23h ago

Coinbase is preparing to expand its 'Everything Exchange' platform into Canada, bundling stocks, crypto, and prediction markets through a single venue. No launch date has been set. The Coinbase Canada CEO said phase two is in motion. The move marks Coinbase's first prediction-market expansion outside its existing US footprint, where the 'Everything Exchange' model already operates across asset classes under one roof.

Why this matters?

Coinbase's Canadian rollout tests whether the 'Everything Exchange' model can export. US traders already move across stocks, crypto, and event contracts on one screen; Canadian investors have no equivalent. Coinbase would be first to offer it there, giving it a head start before Kalshi, Polymarket, or domestic brokerages can match the bundle. Prediction markets are the expansion's newest leg.

Coinbase has not offered them outside the US before, so this is a market test for international appetite. The absence of a launch date means competitors still have a window to block the move through their own Canadian licensing pushes. Whoever secures Canadian regulatory clearance first will shape whether prediction markets there grow as retail brokerage features or standalone verticals.
