Melee Markets Teases Parimutuel Prediction Market Launch

One prediction market founder is preparing to launch a parimutuel prediction market.
Melee Markets is a prediction market platform built on Solana that allows users to create their own real-money markets. The company X account posted an article on Monday recapping the history of parimutuel markets. The company also argued that parimutuel markets are much more peer-to-peer than traditional exchanges.
It went on to identify three challenges with offering parimutuel prediction markets: the inability to sell a position, shifting prices, and the markets’ closure before events.
“PMMs will unlock permissionless market creation at scale for the first time. This is critical for the longevity of a prediction market platform,” Melee Markets founder Nick Preszler said on X.
Prediction markets grow partially out of sight
A BofA Global Research report found that Kalshi has over 90% market share of the American prediction market industry. It also found that Kalshi’s weekly volume has grown from $100 million in April 2025 to $3 billion a year later.

For their size and media dominance, some data suggests that prediction markets still have many users left to reach. Paradigm partnered with Echelon Insights to survey over 1,000 likely voters. Only 39% of those surveyed had “seen, read, or heard anything about” prediction markets. Of those, 51% were under the age of 50, and 47% were college-educated.
That survey was completed in February before Kalshi secured another large media partnership.
Kalshi gets product placement on Fox News
Kalshi and Fox News announced a media partnership that would give Kalshi visibility in different news stories. However, Fox noted that it would not use Kalshi in the outlet’s election coverage. Fox intends to use its own election and polling team for that, instead.
Fox is the latest network to partner with Kalshi in some capacity after CNN and CNBC secured deals with the prediction market platform.
