Golden Globes Features Polymarket Odds During 2026 Awards Show

The 2026 Golden Globes broadcast became the first awards show to feature real-time prediction market data during its live telecast Sunday night, marking a watershed moment for the prediction market industry .
Throughout the CBS broadcast, announcers Marc Malkin and Kevin Frazier repeatedly referenced betting odds before commercial breaks, while on-screen graphics displayed percentage-based predictions for upcoming categories. The integration is yet another example of momentum building for prediction markets in mainstream media, which first started during the 2024 election cycle.

Millions traded on the Global Globes
By Sunday afternoon, users had traded nearly $2.5 million in contracts across roughly 30 Golden Globe categories on Polymarket. That doesn’t include the amount of money traded on Kalshi, Polymarket’s biggest competitor. Prediction markets gave Paul Thomas Anderson a 94% chance of winning Best Director for “One Battle After Another,” while Jessie Buckley held 96% odds for Best Actress in a drama.
The Polymarket-Globes partnership builds on growing interest in pop culture prediction markets, where users have previously traded on everything from Rotten Tomatoes scores to character deaths in television series. Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan framed the collaboration as giving fans “a new, more interactive way to follow the show as it unfolds.”
“Our partnership with Polymarket unlocks a groundbreaking new frontier, redefining how audiences engage with and connect to the content they love.” said Craig Perreault, president of Penske Media Corporation, which co-owns the Golden Globes.
Initially, when the deal was announced last week, integration within the live broadcast wasn’t expected. Key details from the press release included:
- Polymarket is now the Golden Globes’ exclusive prediction market partner. The deal length hasn’t been disclosed, but given how new this category is for awards shows, it wouldn’t be surprising if this first year is more of a trial period.
- The partnership positions the Golden Globes as the first awards program to feature prediction market insights across awards live events.
- Polymarket insights will appear across Golden Globes live events and their broader digital and editorial ecosystem “touching fans’ greatest passion points across entertainment, fashion and pop culture.”
- Polymarket will provide integrated branding + real-time market insights at the official 2026 Golden Globes viewing party.
Mixed reactions
The broadcast integration drew mixed reactions from viewers, with many criticizing the “gamblification” of the awards show while other praised the partnership.
The Golden Globe as always exceptionally interesting and it didn’t fail to deliver new records and a lot of interesting moments, like Leonardo DiCaprio showing personality off camera to Amy Poehler winning Golden Globe for Best Podcast, Becoming Award’s First Recipient
