The pop culture news website Hollywood.com will be offering entertainment prediction markets via a new partnership with Crypto.com. The entertainment news website, according to a press release for today’s announcement, will be “the first ever predictive trading platform dedicated entirely to entertainment” when the prediction markets launch.

No timeline was given for when Hollywood.com will begin offering the markets.

Travis McGhee, managing director and global head of capital markets at Crypto.com, said the partnership is a good way to tap into the enthusiastic fandom connected to the entertainment industry.

“As prediction markets continue to grow and be part of a customer’s trading and investment strategy, we are excited to partner with a leading entertainment media property to offer customers a new way to engage with their favorite content,” McGhee said in the release. “Entertainment fans are some of the most passionate consumers and we look forward to providing them a new, legal prediction market specifically tailored to them through a trusted platform.”

Hollywood.com to offer markets for movies, music, Broadway and more

Hollywood.com will feature “entertainment event contracts across Hollywood movies, Broadway shows, television programs, musical artists, major award shows, and more,” according to the release. The site currently features various news stories related to the entertainment industry, with a focus on the film industry, but also including sub-sections for TV, Broadway, music, comics, tech, gaming and more.

Crypto.com doesn’t currently offer event contracts directly related to entertainment occurrences — its “Cultural” prediction markets section says “Coming Soon” on the website.

But the markets will presumably be similar to entertainment event contracts offered at leading prediction platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, including those based on box office performance, music charts, video game releases, TV competition shows, award show nominations and winners, and various celebrity happenings.

Co-CEO: Prediction markets “giving fans a voice”

Hollywood.com was founded 30 years ago and was the first website to provide movie showtimes nationally. Hollywood Media Corp. sold the site for $10 million in 2008 to R&S Investments, LLC., whose Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein serve as Hollywood.com’s co-CEOs. Silvers and Rubenstein have founded other entertainment properties, including the cable channel Syfy and MovieTickets.com.

Rubenstein said in the release that the recent rise of prediction markets shows there’s big interest in “trading on the outcome of future events” and that the new partnership “is bringing that innovation to entertainment’s biggest stage.”

“We’re giving fans a voice in predicting the moments that define entertainment,” Rubenstein said in the release. “This isn’t about sports, politics, or financial markets — this is pure entertainment. We’re creating an entirely new way for fans to engage with the content they’re passionate about, and as Hollywood.com, we are excited to lead this transformation with Crypto.com.”

Announcement follows similar partnerships with Underdog, Truth Social

The prediction markets at Hollywood.com will be facilitated by the cryptocurrency exchange’s Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA) affiliate. CDNA is approved by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as both a designated contract market (DCM) and derivatives clearing organization (DCO), which allows the company to offer and manage predictive event contracts on its platform, or partner with a third party to do so on another platform.

While Kalshi and Polymarket have been busy lining up prediction market integration partnerships with retail brokers, crypto exchanges, and other finance platforms, Crypto.com has entered into tech partnerships with non-finance outlets.

In September, Crypto.com announced a similar partnership with Underdog that allows the DFS platform to offer sports prediction markets. And last week it was announced that Trump Media is partnering with Crypto.com to offer a range of prediction markets on the company’s social media site, Truth Social.
