During Sunday’s Week 6 matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens, NFL legend and current FOX color analyst Tom Brady made a seemingly off-the-cuff remark about prediction markets.
During the NFL on FOX broadcast, Brady and play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt were discussing 4th down options for the Ravens. With Baltimore’s passing game hobbled thanks to quarterback Lamar Jackson being inactive due to an injury, Burkhardt mentioned that star running back Derrick Henry has thrown four touchdown passes in his career.
“Ohhh!,” Brady exclaimed. “Check the Polymarket, see what it says,” he added, seemingly referring to the odds on the prediction platform for Henry to throw a touchdown pass.
Polymarket relishes Brady’s live mention
For the record, Polymarket didn’t have odds on Henry throwing a touchdown during the Ravens/Rams game. But it wouldn’t be surprising to see the prediction market platform add that market ahead of the Ravens’ next game on Oct. 26 against the Bears to take advantage of the buzz generated.
Polymarket relished Brady’s name drop, sharing the clip and pinning the post to the top of its X account, while also reposting some followers’ comments about the mention. Perhaps, along with a Derrick Henry touchdown pass market, a Tom Brady mention market with odds for “Polymarket” might materialize before Brady’s next game call.

Comments on X about Brady’s quip ranged from some wondering if the NFL icon was paid for the mention to those making fun of Brady’s oldster grammatical use of “the” Polymarket (“What a GenX thing to say lol,” wrote one commenter).
“You win when your product becomes the language”
But the majority of comments from Polymarket followers and supporters were about how Brady’s shoutout was yet another example of how prediction markets are popping up in the mainstream. The excitement was similar to what ensued a few weeks ago when there was an entire episode of South Park that centered on prediction markets and name-checked Polymarket and rival Kalshi.
Some Polymarket boosters suggested that Brady’s mention was perhaps even more relevant because he seemed to say “Check the Polymarket” as shorthand for “check the odds,” because of the way the brand name was being used.
“You win when your product becomes the language,” X user (and Polymarket badge-holder) @PixOnChain wrote. “Google. Uber. Facetime. Now: Polymarket.”
the biggest companies go from nouns to verbs
– research: google it
– payments: venmo me
– transport: uber it
– doubt: ask chatgpt
– photo editting: photoshop it– truth: check the @Polymarket https://t.co/4Cta93tNYv

Polymarket US was being beta tested during Sunday football games
Polymarket isn’t currently available to U.S. users, as the platform prepares for an imminent relaunch. Fittingly, Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan noted late last week that he would be helping out with beta testing the new Polymarket US app by “watching some football” in New York City yesterday. Think he heard the Brady shoutout live?
Polymarket product team member Dustin Karp shared a screenshot of what appears to be an NFL trade on Polymarket US and confirmed that the company was looking for beta testers.

Kalshi has partnership with NFL on FOX
Was Kalshi upset that Brady said, “Check the Polymarket” and not “Check the Kalshi”? The leading U.S. prediction market platform, which has attracted record-breaking trading volume with the introduction of NFL and college football markets this year, has a partnership with the NFL on FOX.
While the full breadth of the partnership hasn’t been publicly revealed, a part of it was in the form of a sponsorship/content integration deal with a FOX online show featuring another former QB-turned-FOX analyst — Mark Sanchez. On the Kalshi-sponsored NFL on FOX Presents: Rearview, the former Jets QB interviews active players like Justin Herbert and Baker Mayfield and discusses the odds of various Kalshi markets.
Kalshi CEO and co-founder Tarek Mansour posted about the FOX Sports partnership on LinkedIn to promote the debut episode of Rearview, in which Herbert and Sanchez discussed Kalshi’s Super Bowl halftime performer markets. Mansour ended the post by writing, “I wonder which NFL player will be talking about Kalshi next.” (Hint: It wasn’t Tom Brady.)
It is unclear how Sanchez’s current legal issues following an incident last week in Indianapolis will affect the Rearview show and Kalshi’s involvement going forward.
