President Donald Trump’s recent tariff policies have not gone over particularly well — at least not yet.
It has resulted in global stock markets losing significant value, especially with trade partners imposing their own retaliatory tariffs. An estimated $5 trillion has been wiped from the S&P 500 alone.
Most Americans are not in favor of the tariffs, according to recent polling.
And, of course, it has divisions among Republicans in Trump’s own party.
Kalshi has prediction markets speculating about whether or not the recently proposed Cantwell-Grassley Trade Review Act of 2025 — which would require congressional approval for the executive office’s unilateral tariffs — will pass before May, by how much, and which Republicans might vote in favor of it.
Here are eight who’ve spoken out against tariffs.
Lisa Murkowski

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska): Murkowski’s backing of the Trade Review Act signifies her stance against the current tariff strategy.
Mitch McConnell

Sen. Mitch McConnell (Kentucky): McConnell supported the Trade Review Act, indicating apprehension about the economic repercussions of the tariffs.
Rand Paul

Sen. Rand Paul (Kentucky): Paul has criticized the tariffs as detrimental to the economy, highlighting the increased costs they could impose on American families.
Susan Collins

Sen. Susan Collins (Maine): Collins voted to rescind the 25% tariffs on Canadian goods, directly opposing the administration’s tariff measures.
Todd Young

Sen. Todd Young (Indiana): Young has taken a cautious but firm stance on tariffs. While he supports strong U.S. trade policy, especially in dealing with countries like China, he’s raised concerns about using broad, sweeping tariffs—particularly when they hit American businesses and consumers in his home state.
Chuck Grassley

Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa): Grassley co-sponsored the bipartisan Trade Review Act, aiming to require congressional approval for new tariffs, reflecting his concern over the executive branch’s unilateral tariff impositions.
Jerry Moran

Sen. Jerry Moran (Kansas): Moran’s support for the legislation underscores his concerns about the tariffs’ impact on trade and the economy.
Don Bacon

Rep. Don Bacon (Nebraska): Bacon plans to introduce a companion bill in the House to the Trade Review Act, aiming to curtail the president’s tariff authority.
