Poker Face is typically associated with the card game, but is also the name of a procedural crime dramedy starring Natasha Lyonne.
The second series will premiere its first three episodes on Peacock on May 8, 2025, and the rest of the 12-episode season will premiere weekly thereafter. Traders on Kalshi expect a high score on Rotten Tomatoes for this project.
The market first launched on Apr. 26, 2025 with a forecasted score of 90.8 and rose to a peak of 94.9 before dropping to its current score of 93.8. According to social media, the review embargo will be lifted on May 2, 2025.

Could ‘Poker Face’ strike gold again?
Poker Face’s first season premiered on Peacock back in January 2023. More than two years later, the series is back with a new slate of guest stars, including Cynthia Erivo, Awkwafina, and John Mulaney.
Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2 we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.
Poker Face is created by and executive-produced by Rian Johnson, with Lyonne executive-producing the series as well. The first season was critically acclaimed and earned Lyonne an Emmy nomination for her acting. The freshman season also earned a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
This means that critics have high expectations for the second season, but also that they already love the work of Johnson and Lyonne. As a result, it can be a double-edged sword for the second season’s Rotten Tomatoes score.
Past critical reception of Rian Johnson’s work
With no early reviews or social media reactions as of yet, we need to find other clues. Besides the fact that the first season performed well critically, how has Johnson’s past work been received?

Johnson has only created one project, Poker Face, so we don’t have any direct comparisons, but he has directed six movies in the past. All six movies received Fresh scores, and four of them scored over 90 points on Rotten Tomatoes.
His directed films have an average score of 86.5. Given his last four movies and only series all received over 90 points, it isn’t too bold of a prediction to assume that the second season will perform equally well.
However, it’s essential to keep in mind that the television world is infamous for having sophomore slumps. Many series have very successful first seasons, but their second seasons often don’t perform as well.
