Lucy Dacus isn’t even 30 yet but has already received multiple Grammys and has released multiple solo and group albums. The singer has been praised for her music and her voice for a decade at this point.
On Jan. 15, 2025, Dacus announced her fourth studio album, Forever Is a Feeling. The album is slated to release on March 28, 2025.
With all the anticipation for the upcoming album, top prediction market Kalshi has launched a market on Pitchfork’s rating of the album. For over 25 years, Pitchfork has been providing music criticism with its influential 10-point review system.
Launched on March 21, the market will resolve once the Pitchfork review is released. Before you bet on the album’s critical performance, here’s what you need to know.
Who is Lucy Dacus?
Most people will either know Dacus as the solo artist from her three studio albums and EP or from her supergroup boygenius. boygenius is an indie band made up of three American singer-songwriters – Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Dacus.
All three of them released music as solo artists first and were constantly compared to one another. In response, they formed a band and have won three Grammys together with six nominations overall.
As a solo artist, Dacus has released three albums – No Burden (2016), Historian (2018), and Home Video (2021). Forever Is a Feeling is her first album in almost four years.
Following the album announcement, she released two singles—Ankles and Limerance — both earning widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike.
Critical reception of past Lucy Dacus and boygenius albums
For many artists, they can release three or four albums but only one or two of them is received positively by critics. Is the same true for Dacus?
Album | Artist | Pitchfork Rating |
No Burden (2016) | Lucy Dacus | 7.8 |
Historian (2018) | Lucy Dacus | 8.1 |
Boygenius EP (2018) | boygenius | 8.3 |
2019 EP (2019) | Lucy Dacus | 7.6 |
Home Video (2021) | Lucy Dacus | 7.7 |
The Record (2023) | boygenius | 8.2 |
The Rest EP (2023) | boygenius | 7.5 |
Among Dacus’s seven projects reviewed by Pitchfork, all have impressively scored above 7.5, with an average rating of 7.88. Even excluding her boygenius collaborations, her solo work maintains a strong 7.8 average and median.
These consistently high ratings have only heightened expectations for her latest release. The first four singles released from the album have been well-received, quickly validating the critical excitement.
Atwood Magazine praised Dacus’s new music for its “exciting shift in a new direction.” Music blogger Brent Faulkner says the singles “prove she is among the best singer/songwriters of the 21st century.”
On “Ankles,” the third track from her 4th LP, Forever Is A Feeling, Lucy Dacus continues to prove she is among the best singer/songwriters of the 21st century.

Given almost all her past projects have received at least a 7.5 and early reactions to her singles are overwhelmingly positive, Kalshi bettors would be smart to bet on a score of 7 or higher. With the average/median score of 7.8, the safer choice would be 7 to 7.9. There is strong potential for Dacus to continue her impressive streak of critically acclaimed releases.
